The Best Silencers In The World

In the jagged, windblown hills of West Texas, three hunters set out to do more than chase aoudad; they came to put Q rifles to the test. Armed with fully kitted Fix rifle systems from Q, Donnie Vincent, Matt Desilets, and Cody Osborn moved through the landscape with purpose. This wasn’t some canned, high-fence hunt. It was real miles, real glassing, and real trigger time; where silence, precision, and shot placement mattered more than anything else.

The Fix & Mega Fix in the Field

Three hunters work together on a rocky hillside at dusk to recover a harvested aoudad, while a precision rifle with a suppressor rests in the foreground.

The Fix is Q’s game-changing bolt-action hunting rifle, perfectly engineered for suppressed hunting rifle use and dialed-in long-range performance. Built on a lightweight, one-piece receiver (no chassis), it combines a fully adjustable folding stock, free-float Q‑SERT handguard, and two-stage match trigger; all while maintaining under 6.5 lbs in popular calibers like 6.5 Creedmoor, .308 Winchester, and 8.6 Blackout. Compact and adaptable, The Fix gives hunters the best hunting rifle for long range engagements without excess bulk; and for those hunting with chin-wagging quietness, it's the ideal subsonic hunting rifle companion when you toss on one of Q’s suppressors and load up a magazine of subsonic ammunition.

Donnie Vincent: Big Country, Big Shot

Donnie kicked things off with a Mega FIX in hand and a serious aoudad in his glass. After glassing across tough terrain and swirling winds, he seized the opportunity on a ram at over 600yds. With what would normally be a no-shoot for Donnie, his confidence in the Mega Fix platform and shooting instruction from Terry Houin, he proned out and made one of the longest shots of his hunting career. The suppressed Mega Fix performed flawlessly; quiet, consistent, and devastating on impact. Donnie’s discipline and the Mega Fix’s capability came together in a shot that proves the rifle isn’t just a fun range toy, it’s got the reach and the power when the moment calls for it.

Matt Desilets – Mountain Precision

Next up was Matty Ice, one of our favorite engineers. He made use of elevation and patience to line up his shot. With his trusty Fix kitted out with a 24” Proof Research 6.5 Creedmoor drop in barrel and a steady rest, he sent a single round into the vitals from a solid distance. No drama, no need for follow-up, just quiet confidence and a bullet that knew exactly where to go. Matt’s hunt showed that accuracy and shot placement are equally as important, if not more important than psyching yourself out and thinking you need a big magnum caliber. The Fix is a platform you can count on even when others may try to tell you you’re undergunned.

Cody Osborn – Subsonic Snap, Supersonic Stretch

Cody crouches on a rocky slope in the West Texas mountains, holding the horns of a harvested aoudad ram as the rugged landscape stretches into the distance. The black-and-white photo captures a moment of respect and reflection after the hunt.

Cody’s hunt was a two-part clinic in ammo and platform versatility. When an aoudad popped out close, he quickly dropped it using subsonic 8.6 BLK; quiet, lethal, and surgical. Then he climbed back into the hills, loaded a mag of supersonic 8.6, and sent a long-range shot that proved the Fix doesn’t care what ammo you feed it; it just performs. Cody’s day in the field was the perfect demonstration of what happens when speed, adaptability, and good gear all work together.

Suppressed Hunting in West Texas

Three hunters. Three platforms. One dusty, rugged stretch of Texas. Whether it was Donnie’s longest shot, Matt’s mountain discipline, or Cody’s two-for-one clinic, this trip proved what suppressed hunting is all about. The Fix and the Mega Fix let you move quieter, shoot smarter, and hunt harder, all with less noise, more control, and zero compromise. Out here, you don’t get second chances. And with rifles like these, you don’t need ‘em.
